Why safety of our officers should be top priority

It is no secret that the safety of police officers in this country is in grave danger. Just about every single time I turn on the news or scroll through my newsfeed on social media anymore, I hear of yet another officer that has been injured or killed in the line of duty. It is disgusting, disheartening and down right scary.

These are our husbands, our brothers, our sisters, fathers & mothers, a sacred part of our family unit. These men and women have families, their families love them deeply and their families pray every time they start their shift because of the fear we have associated with their job.

Yet, somehow, people act as if their lives are disposable.

Far from it. The men and women in blue MATTER. The protection of their lives and their safety matters. It matters to me, it matters to my children, it matters to every single family member bonded by the thin blue line.

Their lives also matter to an amazing company called Angel Armor. Angel Armor makes body armor for first responders and military. I found out about Angel Armor through a fellow police wife whose husband wears their body armor. I actually reached out to this company a few months ago just to learn more about their product to see if it was something I wanted to share with you all. I didn’t JUST learn about their products, I learned about THEM. I learned about the owners, their entire team, their mission, their WHY, the ballistics behind their products, and more. Let me explain….

After a few emails and phone calls back & forth, where I shared my mission with them and them doing the same, it was apparent Angel Armor and I had the same mission: to provide resources and support to law enforcement families.

Then this is what surprised me….

This amazing company, who was already creating state of the art body armor for our officers AND saving lives, wanted to recognize me and other influencers with the same mission. I got to spend a few days at the Angel Armor headquarters soaking up as much as I possibly could about protection for our officers, I met amazing people who also share our same mission, and got to attend an award ceremony with other influencers, like myself, where this little blog of mine was a nominee of the 2018 Angel Armor Influencer Award.

I was more than honored to attend and be amongst the company of so many wonderful people.

Not only was I blown away by their generosity but I was seriously impressed at their level of dedication to officer safety.

Angel Armor goes above and beyond to make sure their products are of highest quality.

Here is a quick breakdown:

-Vests are sized to your officer’s body specifically (no one size fits all or s,m,l, xl) and they are made for each person. It takes about 30-60 days for each person’s vest to come in.

-You can not buy them right off their website. You have to go through their sales team, which are made up of a lot of law enforcement! They do this because they do not want the WRONG person purchasing their products. They only want them in the right hands.

-They are VERY, VERY lightweight. They have been tested in all degrees of weather and no matter the temperature outside or a person’s body temperature- temperature only varied 1 degree! 1!! Pretty amazing!

-No more velcro! They use TRUTH snaps which will not allow the vest to move around. Not up, not down, or from side to side.

-They are very comfortable. This is the NEW everyday vest with the best protection! Your officer can wear this vest all day long! And forget about running to the trunk to grab a rifle vest- these can be worn all day, everyday, with comfort in mind! I am telling you, I met a guy who said he hardly wears his vest because it is uncomfortable, but now wears his Angel Armor vest because of the comfort!

-They can be worn externally or concealed

-The ballistics on the plates were seriously impressive! NIJ (National Institute of Justice) has criteria that every bullet proof vest must meet. Angel Armor BLOWS NIJ requirements out of the water. They don’t just meet standards- they exceed! This is what struck me the most- they work tirelessly to make sure standards are exceeded because our officers MATTER!

-Guys, their plates protect against rifles! These vests can be worn all day and our officers can have rifle protection. The rifle protection alone sold me!

Again, incredibly impressive!

 

My husband’s life is priceless and because of that, he will wear Angel Armor and only Angel Armor. My husband’s safety and bringing him home is top priority. While I know he is not immune to injury, I can rest a little easier at night knowing we are protecting him the best way we possibly can!
