Mother’s Day is right around the corner. If you are like me, you want to scream off the rooftops to your spouse what you want for Mother’s Day, but you like to be surprised. You secretly hope your spouse will figure it out on his/her own but that doesn’t always happen, right? So just share this post or drop some hints to spark some ideas. 🙂
So I know some of us like actual gifts for Mother’s Day, birthdays, etc. You enjoy having a gift handed to you and being surprised. If you are like me, you don’t buy yourself much, so you may have been eyeing something for a while and Mother’s Day would be the perfect day to receive it.
Others would much rather have no money spent on them at all. They would rather have time or “priceless” gifts. These types of “gifts” mean more to them compared to a material item.
Which one are you? Both? Both of these are perfectly fine. I personally like both during different seasons of life.
Without further ado, here are some of my personal favorites for Mother’s Day this year.
Must have gift ideas for police wives on Mother’s Day:
A Memory Book or Slideshow
It can be hard to store a ton of pictures so memory books or slideshows are the way to go.
A few years ago my husband put together a slide show of some of my favorite photos of our kids and us as a family (with meaningful music) and I could not hold back tears!
Photo books are easy to make online at Walgreens or a website like Shutterfly and they can be shipped right to your door.
Jewelry
A meaningful piece of jewelry can say it all! And your jewelry selection doesn’t have to break the bank either! You can find quality statement pieces for under $50 or $100 that are sure to make mom smile.
One of my favorite jewelry stores, owned by a former police officer, is Blue Monarch Co.
They have both subtle blue line jewelry and non-blue line jewelry that is high quality.
Police wives and mothers are the epitome of strength and what could be better than a beautiful piece that cultivates those characteristics.
CHECK OUT BLUE MONARCH CO HERE. USE CODE BLUE40 FOR 40% OFF YOUR ORDER.
Gourmet Treat/Dessert
Think chocolate covered strawberries or cheesecake filled berries.
You can go local or check out larger companies that direct ship like Shari’s Berries.
Air Pods
Seriously, this is important. She can have one air pod in her ear to drown out the noise of the kids but also listen to music or a podcast of her choice. While leaving one air pod out to listen to the kids, just in case.
These are at the top of my list this year.
LEOW (law enforcement officer wife) Apparel
If your wife or girlfriend has been wanting some LEOW apparel, then be sure to check out these options. Racerback tanks are really popular right now and with warmer weather around the corner, you can’t go wrong. I have a favorite police wife apparel company, but whoever you go with, I suggest buying sooner rather than later. Police Week is the same week as Mother’s Day, so companies will be swamped with orders.
Here is one of my favorite tops that I wear often:
I recommend checking out Emory Lane Co! Use My code: REBECCA for 15% of your order.
They are the BEST first responder support apparel shop out there with original products unique for police wife life. Their designs are also super attractive and trendy. I wear them myself and obviously wouldn’t recommend something I don’t own myself.
A Good Book or Journal
Obviously everyone has their own preferences regarding genres and book styles, but if you are looking for law enforcement related reads then check out this great list.
My newest devotional, Proud Police Wife: 90 Devotions for Women Behind the Badge, is a great gift that equips law enforcement spouses with relatable stories and empowering Scripture.
Or if a journal is what you are looking for then be sure to check out my journal for police wives/girlfriends The Peacemaker’s Wife on Amazon.
An Uninterrupted Day Alone (or as a family)
A family day is sometimes just what we need. While police wives are used to spending holidays alone, this is one that is harder to swallow. A wife wants to feel special and be showered with love and appreciation. And honestly, the day you celebrate doesn’t matter. It doesn’t have to be on that holiday as long as time together is planned and happens at some point.
Dinner Made (with dishes done)
Dinner can be made for us or picked up. If you are the police officer husband reading this, then hear me out. We spend so many nights alone, without you. We spend countless meals alone, without you. We make dinner alone or with kids. We do all the cleanup. It is tiring. Sometimes we just want it done for us, without asking for it. So please, make your wife (or pick up) her favorite meal. Something SHE likes, not one that is your favorite or the kid’s favorite. Heck, I am sure she would just take a HOT meal she can eat sitting down, but I know you can do more than that.
Kids Bathed and Put to Bed
Again, us wives do a lot without help. If your spouse is on night shift this is another gift that would be priceless to you. This is a task police wives do many times per week. If you have multiple kids, like me, then it takes hours to bathe your kids and put them to bed. So for the spouse reading this, let your wife completely have the night off. Let her binge watch Netflix, do a few tik toks, or sip on a glass of wine while you take care of the night time routine.
Quality Sleep
All police wives need this. Whether your spouse lets you sleep in (one of my favorites) or he lets you take a nap, how can this be argued? As a police wife and mom, I know I always appreciate the gift of sleep. We are tired, always tired. I do admit- my husband is REALLY good at letting me sleep in a few mornings a month. He knows when it has been a long week for all of us-me included. He gets brownie points if I don’t have to ASK him to wake up early with the kiddos, he just does it!
Gift Card
Can you say Target? Yes, please!
Large supply of Coffee or Wine
What tired mama doesn’t like a nice selection of coffee or even wine? Or maybe even a fresh latté from Starbucks or your local coffee shop.
Need a durable coffee mug? I’ve got you covered. Check out my collection here.

As police wives and mothers, we work incredibly hard. Just as hard as all the other moms in the world, but we do it alone, a lot. We deserve this. So what if your officer is working on Mother’s Day? No big deal! Celebrate another day. It can be the Saturday before, the Monday after, it doesn’t really matter as long as we are appreciated, right?
