Whether it is Police Week or you want to show appreciation to police officers around Christmas, I always seem to be asked, “what is a way I can show my appreciation for law enforcement?” (Read our previous post on Police Week here.)
Last year, my girls and I decided to show our love for law enforcement by creating BLUE BAGS. Blue, a color often associated with police, was a great choice for the bags that were filled with items officers may need while on shift. You can fill the bags with anything you think officers will appreciate! Walmart, Target, or the Dollar Store are great places to find small items to fill the bags with.
We feel it is so important, especially in today’s climate of the world, to show appreciation for law enforcement. No act is ever too small and police officers are always grateful!

SUGGESTED ITEMS FOR BLUE BAGS (with provided Amazon links for easy shopping):
–Hand sanitizer (best to buy in bulk)
–Gum
-Cheese Crackers or Cookies
-Bottled Water
–Small spiral notepad- I LOVE these field notebooks from Thin Blue Line USA
-Mints or hard candy (We did not do chocolate for fear of melting)
-Any thin blue line related items from Thin Blue Line USA
-Ribbon for added decoration 🙂

ASSEMBLY
Get your kids involved! I let my girls fill the bags while I wrote the thank you notes. I set up a little assembly line for them and they took turns putting their items into each bag. Once the bags are filled, we tied them up with white ribbon and attached a gift tag (that you can print for free below) that we printed on cardstock.
We also discussed why it is important to do kind things for Police Officers and how this is one way we can show our support.
If you want to make these bags and use our new, updated FREE Gift Tags, download them below.
Tip: Change bag colors to represent other first responders during weeks other than Police Week! Yellow for dispatchers, red for firefighters, etc!
